Investment Banking Helps People Succeed!

Investment Banking is basically what it says, when you use an investment banker you are making an investment through a bank. Banks act as middle men between companies who want to issue new securities and the buying public. It can be a great idea to use investments like these to grow your wealth.

Investment Banks also help with Mergers & Acquisitions advising on the value of businesses, helping with negotiations, pricing and structuring of transactions, procedures and the execution of the deal.

Banks assist in the matching up or trading (buying and selling) of securities as well as buying and selling the securities the bank owns itself.

Some investment banks have also gotten into commercial banking which used to be seen as less than ideal business for them.

Mergers & Acquisitions are kind of shown off and front end and some things are done more behind the scenes at the bank. Some of the behind the scenes functions are risk management, financial control, corporate treasury, corporate strategy, compliance, and technology.

A good investment banker gives his or her client good advice on what securities each client might be interested in to try and grow their money for retirement or other purposes. Like any investment the client assumes some level of risk to grow the money but a good advisor can tell you how much risk you can afford to take.

Martin Lustgarten is an experienced investment banks and the CEO at Lustgarten, Martin in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. If you are looking for advice or to make some investments he can definitely guide you in the right direction.

Martin is active in the community and has a keen interest in helping his clients build wealth and grow their portfolio’s. It takes someone with experience as there are so many options for investments these days. In addition to his investment banking career Martin loves everything vintage and is a collector of all things beautiful, always curious, a juggler and he is a Vintage watch trader.

Jon took this hobby one step further and joined with the FAA in developing new safety rules for the pilots. In 2015, he received an award from the FAA, and he continues to participate with the FAA in the safety of flying, so this is actually a second career.

An entrepreneur who is concerned about his community is a valuable businessman, and Jon has a compassionate heart for people around him. He creates projects on GoFundMe.com and Crowdrise.com for causes that he is concerned about. Lately, Jon Urbana created a fund on Gofundme.com for Earth Force, which is committed to a clean environment. Jon is from Denver and this cause is located in Colorado, so it has found significance with Mr. Urbana and was even covered by WRCB. Jon uses social media to promote his projects, and he feels there is no amount too big or too small to donate to his funds.

Another interest of Jon’s that he displays on About.me is his growing interest in photography. He has always had photography as a hobby, but, in recent years, he has gotten more serious, and he photographs his travels, especially animals. His photography is taking off and will likely become a success if his other interests are any indication. You can follow Jon’s Vimeo channel to see some of his pictures converted to slideshows.

Brazilian Doctor Sergio Cortes Describes Zika Virus

Brazilian doctor Sergio Cortes has described the zika virus in his personal blog after the outbreak in Brazil. Dr. Cortes hopes that by clarifying the facts and debunking the myths about the Zika virus on Sergiocortesoficial.com, citizens will be less fearful, and better able to handle the virus should it reach their locale. Sergio Cortes believes that empowering people with knowledge about the prevention and treatment of Zika can help save lives and avoid unnecessary panic. Dr. Cortes discussed some key issues regarding Zika, which are included below.
Is the Zika Virus Contagious?

Zika is not contagious in the sense that it cannot be spread from an infected individual to another human being. In other words, you cannot contract Zika from someone who has the virus.

A major concern that Dr. Sergio Cortes has highlighted along with other notable professionals, is that mosquitoes, who are the main transmitters of the virus can become infected if they bite individuals infected with the Zika virus. What this means is that a mosquito who does not have Zika can contract it from someone who has the virus by biting them. Later the newly infected mosquito with Zika can infect new people. This is of great concern to health officials around the world.

What are the Symptoms of Zika Virus?

Symptoms of the Zika virus are typically mild says Dr. Sergio Cortes. They often include rashes, fever and muscle aches. Most of the time, the symptoms of Zika subside with a time period of 3 days to a week. The virus is very rarely fatal.

Due to the very general symptoms of Zika such as fever and muscle aches, it is very hard to diagnose someone who has the Zika virus. Currently, only a few facilities in the country have the resources and expertise needed to properly diagnose Zika.

Zika cannot be treated, but as stated previously the disease often subsides on its own and is rarely life threatening. Medications to alleviate pain and symptoms such as fever are given to those infected.

What is the Correlation Between Zika and Microcephaly?

Locations that have had recent outbreaks of the Zika virus in Brazil have had a high incidence of microcephaly, which is a disease that affects the development of the brain in babies. Microcephaly can be fatal and can severely stunt the mental development of babies. Research is currently ongoing about the connection between Zika and diseases such as microcephaly. Although some links have been established, more research into this matter will be needed to establish concrete evidence.

George Soros is Wrong…(sorry George)

Now that we have your attention, let’s start with the recent comments from one of the greatest minds in finance. At the global economic forum in Sri Lanka last week, Mr. Soros warned on Bloomberg (1) that many factors in place today remind him of the 2008 crisis. He points to two factors in particular: the economic transition in China from a manufacturing to a consumption economy, and the devaluing of the Yuan.

Those two factors pose a serious challenge to the world economy, no doubt about that. The recent crashes in the Chinese stock market certainly don’t help either, not to mention various military battles around the globe that could easily escalate into full-scale war. So, with all of these factors clearly pointing to economic doom, it’s hard to see exactly how George is wrong on this one.
This is the same George Soros that bagged 1 billion bucks in a single trade in 1992. This is the same George Soros who managed the Quantum Fund to 30% ROI year after year. And, this is the same George Soros currently holding a net worth of around 25 billion (2) (slightly more than me). So, what was the title of this article again?
There is no denying the accuracy of his recent comments, but, the real reason we should have grave concern is less obvious, and, as argued here, a much more urgent matter.
First, the transition from manufacturing to consumption will take time and will be very slow. But the economic impact will not be immediate and severe, it will just be like trying to swim upstream, for a long time. Also, China has played with the value of its currency for decades, and while devaluing is no doubt a negative, there are also a number of positives with a lower Yuan (increased exports for example).
The real reason we should all be shaking in our boots is because of the massive bank defaults that are just around the corner. Over the last two years there have already been a trickle of stories (3) about one or two Chinese companies defaulting, but that is just the beginning.
What we miss when reading these articles is the backstory to how companies get loans and run daily operations in China. Every major apartment complex in China is surrounded by retail outlets operated by individual citizens: restaurants, hair salons, clothing stores, building supplies, flower shops, etc.
So, when we read about a real estate company defaulting on its loan, because no one is buying, we should really be reading about all the privately owned businesses that depend on people living in that complex. If you were to pick any large city in China and just take a random drive around, you would see brand new building after building with barely a tenant. And those buildings are 20, 30, even 40 floors high. Government data may say one thing, but your eyes will tell you something different.
George may be right after all, but he will be right for the wrong reasons. The real reason we should all be shaking in our boots is because the whole Chinese economy is hinged to bad real estate loans, and the elephant in the room (or china shop as the case may be) is about to go for a jog.
