Sightsavers And Their Mission To Prevent Blindness

Sightsavers is a worldwide charity that has reached into many undeveloped countries and communities where preventable blindness happens every day. There are children and adults who go blind due to undocumented illnesses, poor water resources, and poor sanitation. This article explains how Sightsavers has become the biggest proponent of the people who are suffering most.

What Does Sightsavers Do?

Sightsavers works with communities throughout Africa and Asia that have terrible water, no doctors, and poor resources. They are reaching into these communities to ensure that all the children are given what they need to keep their sight. Most children who go blind do so very young, and they are malnourished to the point that they must live the rest of their lives blind.

Sightsavers invests in these communities through their fundraising, and they help bring clean water or doctors to these places. They educated the people on what will prevent blindness, and they hope to create a healthier village in each place they visit. The charity hopes to move from one village to the next creating better lives for the people there. They cannot save everyone, but they may stem the tide of preventable blindness.

Working With The UN

Sightsavers works with the UN every year on their advisory panel, and they hope to join with other charities who also work with undernourished communities. They are leading the way by sending some of their best people to the UN to learn, and they share their own information with charities who hope to help the impoverished.

Sightsavers believes that they are handling only one problem in the developing world. They know that they cannot fix everything, but they hope to solve the problem of preventable blindness through education, giving, and outreach. Bringing doctors, clean water, and nourishment to communities in need fulfills their mission.

Sightsavers has moved from one village to another all over Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. They are many children and adults who go blind every year because they do not have the proper water, medical care, or nourishment to retain their most basic right.

The article mentions that due to theses momentous donations, Sightsavers was able to raise enough money for a million cataract operations throughout Africa and Asia. This has made such a huge impact on so many people’s lives. Restoring people’s sight during this amazing Sightsavers campaign is such a big deal. According to the article, Sightsavers had been trying since 2014 to make this happen and finally with the help of Theresa May and Aid Match their dream became a reality.

Sightsavers is proud of what they were able to accomplish, as cataracts are the main cause of blindness throughout the world today. Sightsavers was able to help restore the vision of a million people with the help of Aid Match. Although an amazing feat, Sightsavers efforts do not stop there, according to CEO Caroline Harper. These cataracts are preventing many people from living their normal lives due to extreme vision loss. Sightsavers wants to pull even more resources together to double their efforts and help even more people get these life changing operations.

Waiakea Water is Making a Splash Around the World

At any given time, one has a myriad of choices when it comes to bottled water. There are companies who just rebottle filtered tap water, ones which claim to get their water from pure springs, and water that has added vitamins and minerals to optimize health. With so many choices, it can be hard to know what is best to purchase. Fortunately, there is a water that stands out above the rest.

Waiakea Water is based in Hawaii. Waiakea literally means “broad waters”. Waiakea Water was founded in 2012 and has made quite a splash. Their water is Hawaii volcanic water. This means the water they sell has been filtered by going through porous volcanic rock located at the Mauna Loa volcano. The volcanic rock is approximately 14,000 feet, so that is a lot of filtering!

Not only is their water excellent, they also have been working on developing a biodegradable water bottle. In 2018, they are going to be using bottles that have been made from 100% recycled plastic and that are designed to break down in only 15 years. To put this in perspective, a normal water bottle can take 1,000 years or more to break down. In addition to their use of biodegradable bottles, all of Waiakea Water’s vehicles are low-emission. As an added bonus, a week’s supply of clean water is donated to people in Malawi every time a liter of Waiakea Water is purchased.

Given the known questionable practices of many bottles water companies, it is refreshing to find on which cares so much about the environment while offering a superior product to their customers. When you buy Waiakea Water you are getting water that has been naturally infused with minerals and electrolytes, as well as Waiakea Water pH being naturally at 8.8, which is ideal for the human body. This means that there are many volcanic water benefits for customers. Waiakea Water is way ahead of the competition both in quality and in environmental and social initiatives.
